Prince William made his very first public appearance since the announcement of wife Kate’s pregnancy last week to attend a charity event in London sans his expectant bride.

Without Kate, the Prince continued on along with his royal duties attending The winter Whites gala at Royal Albert Hall in support of his homeless charity Centrepoint.

Even though Duchess of Cambridge was originally likely to attend, Kate remained at Kensington Palace after recently released from a extended hospital stay because of acute nausea.

William spoke at the function of his personal link with the charity, telling the story of how that he willingly spent the night time on the streets of London to raise understanding of the plight of homeless youngsters.

“About this time a few years ago, I gave up the warmth and comfort of my bed and tried sleeping on the streets,” he said. “After that night, the chief executive at Centrepoint, Seyi Obakin, and I decided that Centrepoint should set itself a goal: to eradicate homelessness in the next ten years. We are now several years into that decade and the problem remains as acute as ever.”
