Apple will Surprise Exactly No-one!

Apple Reportedly Testing TV Set Designs, Which Should Surprise Exactly No OneThe WSJ reports today that Apple is trying out Apple Television set (as versus set-top box) designs, though that testing remains “early stage. ”

Apple is specifically working on high-res TVs on the basis of the reports, trialling a number of different designs, coping with numerous suppliers including Hon Hai (Foxconn) and Sharp on the modern TV designs.

TV testing isn’t new for Apple, on the basis of the report, and we’ve heard plenty about that before, plus Apple CEO Tim Cook has been less coy about Apple’s television plans in recent interviews.

Here’s underneath line: Apple is working on a TV. Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster has been going on about that for many years, and annually they don’t make one that he looks just a little less credible. But he’s maybe not wrong.

The WSJ report only serves to bolster the concept that Apple has been trying out televisions, beyond the 1st, second and third-generation Apple TV set-top boxes they’ve shipped, for an extended while now.

Steve Jobs discussed Apple tackling the area in his Walter Isaacson biography, and also other sources, such as the Nyc Times, have around known as an Apple television a lock for another product launch.

But there’s still a long way to go, as Apple has no content deals constantly in place for a television, at least maybe not with major cable and media providers.

So in the end, even though it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Apple is actively trying out TV sets, no-one ought to be holding their breath about such a device’s arrival, at least maybe not yet.
